OCTOBER is for football, fall foliage, Halloween & DENTAL HYGIENE & ORTHODONTIC AWARENESS!  As the kids go back to school, it is critical to keep dental hygiene regimens in place as you tackle school and sports schedules.

A lifetime of healthy smiles starts with basic dental habits!

  1. BRUSH 2 minutes 2 times a day! Brushing should begin as soon as your child’s teeth erupt into the mouth. Start your child’s day by brushing for 2 minutes! Ask us for a timer at your next visit or try a dental app to make brushing fun & effective! Examples of some APPS are from Disney Magic Time or My Bright Smile! Keep kids engaged and get them accustomed to two minutes for brushing.
  2. FLOSS all teeth that touch! Begin this habit as soon as your child has teeth! Use traditional floss or flossers with handles for ease.
  3. VISIT us every 6 months. Dental check ups should begin at age 1! We will review hygiene, diet, cavity risk assessment and complete anorthodontic evaluation as necessary.

Our practice offers two convenient locations in Ocean County with board certified pediatric dentists and orthodontists in both locations. We provide comprehensive preventive care, restorative dentistry, sedation and hospital dentistry and orthodontics. We are here to be your child’s dental home.

Our orthodontist in our Toms River office is Dr. Ernest Wang. Our orthodontist in our Manahawkin office is Dr. Miriam Furlong. We are proud to offer Ocean Pediatric Orthodontic Associates for your family.

Do you want our staff to teach dental hygiene to your students or day care? Contact us at LORI@oceanpediatricdental.com. We visit over a thousand children each year!

For a healthy smile this HALLOWEEN SEASON, avoid sticky & gummy candies! These types of treats can cause cavities & damage braces! CHOOSE wisely!
